Join Scenic in 2030 at the Extraordinary Passion Play in Oberammergau

In 2030, the Oberammergau Passion Play will once again return to the stage, offering a remarkable opportunity to experience one of Europe’s most enduring and moving cultural traditions.

Performed only once every ten years, this landmark production offers more than an evening at the theatre. It is an opportunity to experience a village at the heart of its most significant tradition where the people on stage are local residents, and every performance reflects a story that has been carried through generations for almost 400 years.

The event is planned to take place from 18 May to 6 October 2030, with approximately 100 performances in the open-air Passion Play Theatre and pre-registration is now open.

Oberammergau sits in the Ammergau Alps, surrounded by green valleys, mountain peaks and traditional Bavarian villages. The setting is as distinctive as the performance itself.

Stroll along the village streets to discover houses decorated with elaborate painted façades, a regional art form known as Lüftlmalerei. Step into workshops where local woodcarvers continue a craft that has defined Oberammergau for centuries.
